Since bats are so small, as many as a million may live in a single cave.
Many people think that all bats are the same. But did you know that there are close to 1,000 species of bats in the world? Forty different kinds of bats live in North America alone!

Bats’ habitats can be found on every continent except Antarctica. Most bats like to live in tropical areas where the weather is warmer and milder.

Bats’ habitats include forests, deserts, grasslands, and even cities. Bats make their homes in all sorts of places. Trees, caves, houses, and buildings are all places where you might find a bat.
